Your iPhone and iPad can bring you the latest in home decorating. Available apps, many of which are free, advise users on anything from choosing paint colors and remodeling to shopping for specific products.
The Shazam of Paint Colors
If you’ve ever used Shazam to tag a song on the radio, you’ll probably enjoy two best apps which match paint colors to a mobile photo. Color Snap matches your uploaded photo with a Sherwin-Williams paint color. Ben Color does the same for Benjamin Moore.
Presto Change-o
ColorChange ($2.99, pictured here) lets you envision your room in a different color. Simply snap a picture of the room with your iPhone and “paint” walls, floor, trim, whatever you’d like.
Layout Designer for a (Small) Price
Home Interior Layout Designer: Mark on Call by Mark Lewison ($2.99) creates a visual plan for your remodeling project. You can add architectural design details to an uploaded room photo or even try out that rug or flooring you see at the design store by snapping a photo and dragging into your uploaded room image.
For HGTV Fans
If your tiVo is filled with Design to Sell, Curb Appeal, and My First Place, the viewing party doesn’t have to end when you leave the house. HGTV’s Staging & Property app (free) offers advice from the network’s cadre of experts, before and after slideshows, and video clips from popular shows.
Art Match
You’ve found the perfect wall color on Color Snap. Now you need a complementary piece of artwork to bring it all together. Enter Decomash (free), an art search engine which finds a painting which will integrate with your room colors and furniture style. Like many of the decorating apps for iphone, Decomash utilizes an uploaded or mobile photo of your room.
