iPhone 5 Prototype Lost in a Tequila Bar

iPhone 5 Prototype Lost in a Tequila Bar another Apple employee mistakes!

Last year an Apple employee left an iPhone 4 in bar shortly before its release. The device was sold on to Gizmodo prompting Apple to resort to some heavy handed tactics to retrieve the phone. Gizmodo editor Jason Chen, who purchased the device, has only just been acquitted of all charges levelled against him. The effort that Apple went to in order to retrieve the device and bring legal action against those responsible for Gizmodo obtaining it suggest it was a genuine misplacement and not a deliberate publicity stunt by Apple.

Which begs the question of why now, a year later and with the iPhone 5 due for release in a few weeks, Apple would let another pre-release model out of their hands and into the general public. CNET is reporting that an Apple employee appears to have left an iPhone 5 in a tequila bar called Cava 22 in San Francisco. Although there are reports that Apple and the FBI traced the device to an address in Bernal Heights, San Francisco, the phone has not yet been recovered.

It has also not made an appearance on any online tech magazines like Gizmodo. While Gizmodo reportedly paid $5000 for last year's iPhone 4, the misplaced iPhone 5 is rumoured to have been sold on Craigslist for just $200. Surely someone who has just obtained an iPhone 5 would seek to sell it on for more than the eventual cost of  iPhone 5 deals at release, not substantially less.

Information about the iPhone 5 is fairly scant and unconfirmed, but if we start seeing some pictures and more detailed information in the coming days and weeks then perhaps there will be some truth to this story. On the other hand, maybe Apple realised that last year's mishap actually generated some beneficial publicity and have decided to replicate the event without actually letting an iPhone out into the wild.

Police apparently searched the address in Bernal Heights but found nothing, even though the device had been tracked to that location via its GPS. Then, the Apple representatives offered to pay the occupant a large amount of money with no questions asked if he returned the device, at which point he insisted he did not have it. Apple has declined to comment on the incident, and San Francisco Police Department claim that Apple has not filed a police report, leading many people to speculate that the rumours are bogus.

Letter from Steve Jobs

The resignation of the former CEO of Apple Steve Jobs accumulate a lot of speculations and different reactions from the apple community including me.  Here is the content of resignation letter from Steve Jobs.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Steve

I hope that this incident won't affect the apple community.  I'm sure Apple company will still produce great product for their consumer.
Let's wait and see what the next hot products from the Apple company.

Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple

Steve Jobs resigns as CEO of Apple

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs on Wednesday resigned as chief executive of Apple Inc in a stunning move that ended his 14-year reign at the technology giant he co-founded in a garage.

Apple shares dived as much as 7 percent in after-hours trade after the pancreatic cancer survivor and industry icon, who has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since January 17, announced he will be replaced by COO and longtime heir apparent Tim Cook.

Analysts do not expect Jobs' resignation -- which had long been foreseen -- to derail the company's fabled product-launch roadmap, including possibly a new iPhone in September and a third iteration of the iPad tablet in 2012.

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come," he said in a brief letter announcing his resignation.

The 55-year-old CEO had briefly emerged from his medical leave in March to unveil the latest version of the iPad and later to attend a dinner hosted by President Barack Obama for technology leaders in Silicon Valley.

Jobs' often-gaunt appearance has sparked questions about his health and his ability to continue at Apple.

"I will say to investors: don't panic and remain calm, it's the right thing to do. Steve will be chairman and Cook is CEO," said BGC Financial analyst Colin Gillis.

Apple shares slid to $357.40 in extended trading after a brief halt. They had gained 0.7 percent to close at $376.18 on the Nasdaq.

Analysts again expressed confidence in the Apple bench, headed by longtime company No. 2 and supply-chain maven Cook.

"Investors are very comfortable with Tim Cook even though Jobs has been a driver of innovation and clearly an Apple success. Tim has shown Apple can still outperform extremely well when he's been acting as CEO," said Cross Research analyst Shannon Cross.

"I don't know if it's a health issue. I don't know if it is a shock. Most likely it was going to happen at some point. Why today versus another day? I don't know."

Green Poison Jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1

After weeks of talks, wait and rumors Chronic Dev Team finally came through the appearance of GreenPois0n IOS untethered to jailbreak 4.2.1.

greenPoison

Until now, there was no other solution but to use a beta version of Redsn0w, which let's be honest, it was not very stable. I do not know if this release will be better than Redsn0w because there is not much information about this version GreenPois0n so far.

We all know that it works for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3Gs running IOS 4.2.1. Even better, unlike Redsn0w, you do not need to write 42b3 SHSH blob stored to GreenPois0n work. One thing is for sure, this version does not GreenPois0n hacktivate iPhone. So far, only the Mac version is available.

Goodbye iPhone Jailbreak? Sims Embedded getting the green light

148Apps - iPhone App Reviews and News
Jailbreak iPhone could very well be an endangered species. GSMA announced a task force to monitor the development of embedded SIM cards that can be remotely activated, a move that follows recent speculation that Apple is beavering away on similar technology. That could mean a new generation of cameras, MP3 players, sat nav and ebook readers SIM cards baked in but more importantly it could sound the death knell for the Jailbreak iPhone ...
Rob Conway, CEO of the GSMA, says: "The chip can offer even greater flexibility. The chip will provide the assurance levels of security and portability for customers as well as new services such as e-Waller ... and NFC applications . You must remember that Apple was seriously build their patent library NFC in the last two years.

The GSMA predicts that states will have an organized plan for Sims incorporated in January 2011 and the first devices are expected to fall in 2012. This may mean that the last traditional Jailbreak iPhone will be possible with the iPhone when you get five next summer. That said, we know that hackers are as ingenious as the engineers at home.
The big point with embedded devices is that if a SIM card can essentially be soldered onto circuit iPhone. This will prevent people from unlocking the phone to work on another network without the explicit permission of the original seller. On the positive side would make life difficult for thieves. Hit comments and let us know what makes the Sims' plan incorporated.

Apple launches "Hall of Fame" to showcase best apps

If you think wading through 300,000 apps for iphone is a cumbersome process - and let's face it, who doesn't think that? - then Apple finally has a solution to your problem of not knowing what the best apps are.

The apps for iphone Store now has more than 300,000 apps available. That's about three times the number of downloadable programs on the Android Market. Apple has gone through that massive list and chosen the 50 best, running the gamut from games to note-taking apps.

The list includes many of the same
Iphone applications
that were inducted into the unofficial App Hall of Fame that a handful of mobile game publications put together last month.

Among the
Iphone apps

that are part of Apple's Hall of Fame are:

Angry Birds
Archetype
Carcassonne
Chaos Rings
Cut the Rope
Dark Nebula - Episode Two
Espgaluda II
Plants vs Zombies
CNN Mobile
Epicurious Recipes
Explore 9/11

The vast majority of games in the list are premium apps, ranging from 99 cents to over $10. Other apps for iphone include a wide selection of free offerings.

Apple will assumedly be updating the Hall of Fame, so we'll get to see which ones stand the test of time. And while it does help narrow down the crowded apps for iphone Store, we do hope that the new list doesn't discourage developers looking to break into the market.
