T-Minus 3 Hours

In approximately three hours, I will be presenting at the Apple Store SoHo in New York City. The meeting starts at 6:00pm, I go on around 7:00. In practice, my material spans about an hour, but I usually talk faster when I have an audience, so I hope people come with questions.

Nervousness hasn't really kicked in yet. I'm sure it will.

The range of backgrounds of the audience worries me a bit. I know that there will be developers in the audience, as well as people who have never written a single line of code in their lives. I don't want to bore anybody. I also don't want to confuse or frustrate anybody, so I've decided to take a little different tack. Hard to sum up the approach I'm taking, so I won't try, but I do hope people will enjoy it. Or at least won't hurt me.

And I promise, only one slide mentions Flash at all and I'm not going to do any Flash-bashing at the Apple Store. As for what I say after the presentation, I make no promises.

Reminder: I'm Speaking at MetroMac Meeting at Apple Store SoHo on Thursday

The meeting starts at 6:00, my presentation begins at 7:00. I'll probably speak for roughly an hour and then have Q&A after that. At least that's the plan, we'll see how it goes.

Meet Me, NYC, Nov. 5th

On November 5th, I'll be speaking at the Apple Store SoHo in New York City. I'll be speaking at the MetroMac meeting. The meeting is from 6:00 to 9:00, but I won't be speaking for the entire meeting. I believe I've been given roughly between ninety minutes and two hours, though, which is probably longer than anyone should have to listen to me.

I've been given fairly free reign in terms of what I speak about, as long as it's relevant to the audience (iPhone, Mac, etc), however be aware that MetroMac is not a developer group and the audience will run the gamut from consumer to total gearhead. As a result, the talk will not be particularly technical (at least not hardcore developer-type technical). I'll be leaving about twenty minutes to a half hour for questions, and will be happy to answer questions and chat even after the meeting is done.

Although I've been to the Flagship 5th Avenue store a few times, I've never been to the SoHo store, so I'm really looking forward to the talk, though it'll be the first time I'll have given a non-technical presentation in… well, years, so if I make a fool of myself, pretend I didn't, 'kay?

Because of how far away I live and how late the talk is, I'm also in the city for the night, so I could probably be talked into having a beer or three after the meeting with any City Geeks who are allowed to stay out after curfew.

Me Blathering

Jonathan Sarno, who runs the iPhone Boot Camp Workshops took video during the Meetup I attended in NYC. We discussed a range of topics, including where things were headed with the iPhone, and how to monetize your games. I was expected to look like an expert, but I'm actually not an expert on either topic, but it was fun engaging in conjecture. Steve Kochan was also on the panel as well, but he's not shown in these two clips.
