iPhone- Setting Up Your Voice Mail on iPhone
The first thing is not to put the SIM card from your old phone into your iPhone. Everything else will work but you voice mail and visual mail will likely not work. If you go to an AT&T store, you can get a new SIM put in your phone and help with getting everything from your old SIM card transferred to it.
Now you are ready for the next step. Call customer service at AT&T (the exclusive iPhone service provider in the US) and tell the representative that you need to setup voice mail. Be sure to tell him or her to check to make sure the forwarding feature to forward calls to your voice mail is turned on. This is something that is often overlooked by customer service representatives. Once this is done, you are ready to actually setup voice mail.
Before you begin, it is a good idea to know what password you want to use. Might write down what you want to record as your outgoing message, too. Doing this will save time and make the process to setup voice mail go smoother.Your password should be between 6 and 15 characters. Make sure it is something you can remember but others will find impossible to guess. Now you tap the voice mail icon on your iPhone. You will be asked to create a password at this point.
Enter the password you have created and then you will be asked to record a greeting. You will have the option of using a default iPhone voice mail greeting that will include your phone number or you can record your own. You can change your greeting at any time by tapping voice mail, greeting, custom and then record. Do not forget to save your greeting once you are satisfied with it.
Students at Penn state who subscribe to Penn iPhone can log in to My iPhone and setup voice mail for their iPhones. PennKey authentication will be required. Once on the home page, look for Features and Voice Mail and go to that page. Here, you will put in the password you have created. You can change this password at any time by logging in on My iPhone or through the voice mail icon on your phone. After you have entered your password, re-enter it is the field, Confirm Password. After up press the submit button, your account will be updated to include it.
To record your greeting, press the 'messages' button, it will be to the right of the keypad. Press '0' to bring up the mailbox options. From there, you will be prompted to choose the type of greeting you want, such as busy, unavailable and name. Then you will get a prompt from the system to record your greeting. When you are finished, choose accept, listen and, if you desire, re-record. When you are satisfied with your greeting, press * or # to go back to the menu or exit.

How about getting Apple’s new iPhone to work with it?
Apparently the newest and currently the hippest gadget around is compatible with BMWs that are compatible with other Apple iPods. The iPhone, in addition should work on Bluetooth-equipped BMWs. This isn’t much of a surprise since BMW is known to be among the leaders in automakers in making Bluetooth devices work in cars.
On June 29 BMW became the first automaker to announce a fully integrated system for Apple's brand-new iPhone.
Initially, the German automaker will only offer integration for U.S. models, but with international sales of the iPhone a given, BMW is likely to extend the technology across to other markets.
In statement made in its website, bmwusa.com, BMW said, “BMW welcomes the Apple iPhone -- It's the kind of innovative approach you would expect from BMW. In 2004, BMW was the first to integrate the iPod into BMW vehicles and have customers take full control of their music on the road. So it seemed only logical that BMW be among the first to ensure iPhone owners have the same ability to enjoy their music, plus the added benefits of Bluetooth® hands-free calling across our model line. We are pleased to announce that BMW owners can use their iPhone in this way from day one. … Access to the iPod (or the iPod application of the iPhone) via the vehicle controls and central information or radio display is only possible on cars equipped with iPod/USB interface. How To Make Your iPhone Battery Last Longer
If you take care of the battery of the iPhone, you will really be able to extend its life. The type of battery that's in the model can easily be used for a few years with the proper care and precautions. This doesn't mean that the battery will last forever, it just means that it will last for a lot longer.
You must avoid heat like the plague if you want this type of battery to last. Heat destroys the ability of lithium-ion batteries to store energy due to intense ionization. Make sure that your phone isn't left out in the sun. A few hours in direct sunlight will cause the battery to get excessively hot. Even one afternoon in the sun could severely damage the life of your iPhone's battery. Leaving the iPhone in your car will get the phone even hotter.
You must also make sure to never charge the iPhone with an after market charger. Not only will this void your iPhone's warranty, it will also likely damage your battery. Lithium-ion batteries are designed to be charged at an exact charge rate and voltage. Many after market chargers won't have the voltage quite right which can result in long-term degradation of your battery.
Don't charge your iPhone in your vehicle. Vehicle chargers are made to charge the battery more quickly, and this isn't good for your battery. Even the Apple brand vehicle charger isn't as good for your battery as a wall charger would be. If you get into a pinch, it probably won't kill you to charge the iPhone once or twice on the way to work. Make it a habit, and you'll wish you hadn't.
An off-brand vehicle charger is a certain recipe for disaster. Not only will the voltage be off, it will charge the battery at the wrong charge rate. This is by far the easiest way to render your battery worthless in a short period of time. If that's your goal, make sure to buy an off-brand vehicle charger right away!
If you do need to have your iPhone battery replaced, make sure to contact Apple to find an authorized repair station. If anyone that isn't authorized opens up your iPhone, your warranty will be voided. An authorized repairman can replace your battery in about 20 minutes and you will be able to have the model under continued warranty.

iPhone Tips and Tricks - Get the Most Out of Your iPhone Experience
All of us folks who are lucky enough to already have an iPhone know how much fun they can be just to play around with. Playing with my iPhone a lot myself, I have discovered some cool tips and tricks that you may find useful.
1. If you tap once at the very top of the screen when you are on the internet, it will take you back to the top of the window rather than having to scroll all the way back up. A nice time saving feature.

2. If you set the font to the smallest size, you can read more in the internet window. An advantage of this is that when you want to click a link, you can pinch (expand) that area and the link will come up very large, making it much easier to click.
3. Rather than posting the full address of internet sites in bookmarks, you can post the equivalent RSS address instead into Apple's RSS reader and save that as your bookmark. This way you can quickly see if there's anything interesting on your favorite site rather than downloading the whole homepage.
4. If you are writing something and the iPhone flags a word as misspelled that you know is not misspelled, cancel the correction 3 times and the word will be put into the dictionary. If you write a lot, this feature is quite useful!
5. The magnifying glass is a nice iPhone tool when you are typing an email or any other text. If you tap once and hold, a magnifying glass will pop up showing you a zoomed in view of your words and cursor. You can now easily place the cursor wherever you want. This makes editing your writing very easy.
6. You can move icons around, but not on the home screen. You have to go to the ipod section. Go to iPod > More > Edit. Now you can drag your icons all around. This can also be done in the phone section.
7. To reset your iphone, hold down the right button and the "home" front button for about 6 seconds. To power it back on, push the top button. This is different than a regular shutdown, which can be done easily by holding the sleep/wake button for 6 seconds.
8. If you get a lot of spam e-mail or other unwanted e-mail, pay attention to this time saving feature. Add a link to Yahoo mail in Safari bookmarks. From there you can check 'delete all' to remove all unwanted e-mails. This is much easier than deleting hundreds of spam e-mails one at a time.
