Before you say "Wait, how can be a free application ... top extrapolation" is based on the ads and pursuant to the purchase-app. PocketFrogs As in, frogs and more special or New York Marathon app results in real time or wired or Marvel Comics or DC or Maxim ...
Fine you got the idea, the fact is it's pretty amazing. According to my calculations (Canadian App Store) 48 of the 200 best extrapolation applications are "free." If you look at just the top 100 the percentage is even higher:
"A look at iPhone apps on top of the box office is now 34 of the 100 best applications are free, but make their money through purchases under the most virtual currencies as well as premium features others. Remco van den Elzen, CEO of analysis firm Distimo, said he believes the app purchases now account for about 30 percent of all revenues iPhone App Store. "We see more developers to implement more app-procurement in particular games," he said. "Apps Freemium are also picking up significantly. Many developers realize that this is a model of success. Look at this another way. Because you can not "safely" try or iPhone applications iPad (buy and hate, tough), sometimes paying a little money to an unknown application is something people do not want to do. And by people I mean me. Now if the software is free, there is no risk. I can try it and if I like it, great. Oh sure, I disembark probably too much money on applications, but I do not buy every app I think it's cool. So I do not mind ads in my applications and I think it's a great idea for you buy add-ons for your application within the application itself. Want more birds in anger levels? You want a new sound effect or photo filter effect? This will be $ 1 for a special package ...
This should make all the app makers happy. By allowing people to change on the fly, you can increase revenues and, I believe, by extension loyalty. I would certainly continue to use a useful application that I can add on that I needed.
So, do not click on ads in applications? Do you shop in app? What is your favorite free application that lets you buy more you use it (I think comics and applications magazine)?
